The INTERDISCIPLINARY DATA SCIENCES CONSORTIUM (IDSC) is an interdisciplinary research group on data sciences with a wide range of quantitative experts located mostly within various departments at USF. Members of this consortium include experts in statistics, engineering, probability, mathematics, biostatistics, health sciences, physiology, and business.
The vision of the IDSC is to foster and create the best resources for data sciences including BIG DATA analytics in the state of Florida, and lead the university’s data-intensive research and graduate education.
Roger Tipton will be presenting on the Commercialization of an IoT Big Data Value Chain: Lessons Learned from IoT Implementations. The value chain proposition for IoT comes from being able to not only collect valuable data but enable use of the data by big data analytics. The ever expanding implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) are driving data complexity through new forms and sources of data. This collection of data may allow users to make better and faster decisions. In this talk, we will discuss the importance of collecting and using data to improve customer outcomes. We will focus on our experience in sensing and big data from actual IoT implementations like grocery store food stocking, advanced product ordering and automated pickup, and seat occupancy data analysis.
